Mazharul Anwar is a programmer by trade with over 10 years of experience building software and web applications. He is passionate about system design and startups, having helped build several startups from scratch. Being able to fail fast and learn from mistakes is one of his core strengths.
In his most recent role as Head of Engineering - Digital at Pickles Auctions, Mazharul leads various technology and product streams while driving engineering and innovation strategies. He is responsible for empowering 200+ technologists with AI Ops, observability, continuous integration and continuous deployment automation, and an immutable infrastructure philosophy. Mazharul is also building Pickles' core platform for Selling and Finance, while shaping up the Center of Excellence for Engineering in Malaysia. He enables his team's adaptation to microservices architecture, cloud, distributed systems, data-driven development, automation, agile methodologies, and DevOps culture.
Prior to this, Mazharul worked as the Head of Solution Architecture at Petronas, where he played a pivotal role in planning and executing the technical vision for the ROVR project, collaborating with key stakeholders, and building customer-focused services. During his career, he has gained a keen understanding of SaaS/PaaS and online business, and has a passion for mentoring and coaching engineers and teams on delivering better products faster using outcome-driven delivery such as agile, lean, and JTBD. He strongly believes in servant leadership.
In addition to his work in the tech industry, Mazharul is an open source enthusiast and loves spending time in terminals, experimenting with big data technologies, and honing his skills in Node.js, Golang.
