I'm an engineering leader. Currently Head of Engineering at Pickles Auctions, where I lead teams across Australia and Malaysia.
The short version: 15+ years building software, scaling teams, and occasionally figuring out how to make old things new again. I took a 60-year-old auction house digital. I built a mobile petrol station from scratch at PETRONAS. I've grown engineering orgs 5x while making them more efficient, not just bigger.
What I think about
I'm interested in how engineering organisations actually work — not the org chart version, but the real mechanics. Why some teams ship and others don't. How platform engineering creates leverage. What breaks when you scale, and what doesn't.
I have opinions about technical leadership, most of them learned by getting things wrong first.
What I'm exploring
I'm building things on the side — small tools, product experiments, ways to test ideas quickly. I like the early stages where everything is possible and nothing works yet. Currently interested in AI-assisted workflows and what "good enough" architecture looks like for early-stage products.
Beyond work
I read too much, am intrigued by what's happening in the AI world, and I'm learning that some of the best thinking happens away from the screen.
Get in touch
I'm open to advisory conversations, interesting problems, or just talking shop. If you're building something and want a second opinion on engineering strategy, architecture, or scaling teams — happy to chat.
